1000xRESIST
when i started this blog, i said i was surprised at how i could actually write a fair amount if i just sat down and started writing. i'm not entirely sure that's going to be the case for this game, which is a bummer because i think it deserves quite a lot more than i feel capable of giving it. anyway, i'll do my best, and maybe i'll have more to say as thoughts percolate.
WHAT A GAME! wow!! it's absolutely absorbed my time and my thoughts for the last week or so. it's got so much to say about motherhood, sisterhood, daughterhood, generational trauma, oppression, liberation, revolution, isolation, covid, memory, forgiveness, freedom, love, connection... i really can't recommend it highly enough. it does some incredibly clever things with the formal gameness of it- one of my favorite moments was when a flood of contradictory objectives came in, more concisely conveying the character's conflicted state of mind than any bit of dialog could. which is not to say that the dialog and writing are bad, because they are great! for a world populated by clones of a single person, everyone has an amazing depth of character; even the fairly incidental, unnamed NPCs are quite distinct and memorable in everything but their appearance. the voice acting is great, too, and i found myself really caring for all of these sisters, even the least sympathetic of them.
i can't recommend it highly enough. go play it! hekki grace.
