Muppet Treasure Island (Brian Henson, 1996)
Tim Curry is amazing, of course, practically more muppet than man. it’s a fun adventure story, which is all it needs to be, but between jokes about political correctness (“I think they prefer the term ‘visually-impaired’”, about a character who introduced himself as “Blind Whatever His Name Was”), and the appallingly racist portrayal of the natives of the island, which i’m sure is accurate to the book but perhaps could have been updated even in 1996, it falls much flatter than it needs to on an adult viewing.
