Ward (Đorđe Kadijević, 1973)
this is the first real miss for me in Severin's Big Box o' Folk Horror. creepy atmosphere, and really lovely cinematography, but on the one hand it didn't feel very substantial, and on the other what substance there was was spread out over too long a runtime. maybe it would've hit harder at 30 minutes. i also found the heavy reverb on all the dialogue very distracting, because at no point was anyone in an environment where they should sound like that. i assume that it must have gotten dubbed in with dialogue recorded in a little metal box, but i don't know why. all that said, it's a neat little precursor to both It Follows and Fallen London's Gray Man plot line in the Tracklayer's City.
